I painted this from a photo that my father took in 1952. This is my mother and my brother in a boat at a camp the family used to go to. This photo has been a favourite in the family for years I think mostly because they were very happy family times. I also love it because my Mum looks so young and beautiful and the expression on her face is blissfully serene. My brother looks pretty darned cute too. I was so thrilled to paint it! I gave the original to my mother, who is now 89, for Christmas last year. She hangs it proudly in her room at her seniors care home and shows if off whenever she can. It must be a nice reminder for her and that makes me very happy.
